Breast Pain (Mastodynia)
The vast majority of breast pain complaints are due to physiological causes (resulting from hormonal changes before menstruation).
Don't be overly concerned if you experience breast pain, but be sure to consult your specialist.
Basic information you need to know about breast pain:
– Breast cancer, the most feared breast disease, often progresses insidiously. Symptoms such as pain, aching, or breast tightness are not present in most cases. Breast cancer often does not cause pain or discomfort.
– Hormonal changes are the most common cause of breast pain and discomfort. Hormonal fluctuations before menstruation or during seasonal changes can cause breast pain, aching, or tightness.
– Women with fibrocystic breasts experience more pain and discomfort during periods of hormonal fluctuation than other women.
